Well, it was an exciting conclusion to the day. The Dynamic No Fins Finals were today.
Jessica Wilson was in the Women's B Final. She swam well and did 113M which would have tied the current National Record, which was a world record when it happened. Unfortunately, the lane lines being loose and the big swim were too much for Jessica to manage and she DQed. A great effort nonetheless.

Jessica ready to start her DNF B Final Race.
Junko had a great swim in the Women's A Final. She added one meter to her National Japan Record with a mark of 116 M.

Junko and Tominaga Naoyuki both set Japanese National Records in the DNF Finals. Tominaga place third overall finishing in the medals.
Natalia lived up to the guesses and managed a performance of 149 M. She wanted to do 150 M, but surfaced prior to touching the final wall. Only makes it simple the next time to get her 150 M.

Natalia and her son Alexey with five medals in total. Three gold for mom and two silver for son.
An exciting Final for sure with a new world record.
The Men's A Final was a fascinating race to watch and mixed with controversy. Clearly Stig believed Wil Winram of Canada to be his main competition. Stig began his race at the very last second and swam slower than he ever has before staying behind Wil the entire swim, a first for Stig. Wil made the turn at 150 M and came up mid pool. He had pushed just a bit too far and dipped his airway resulting in a DQ. Stig swam to 186 M for an apparent new world record. White card given.

Wil congratulating Timo Jattu of Denmark with Stig in the background.
Protests followed claiming Stig made contact with the surface lane line prior to his airway coming out of the water. This is a violation of AIDA regulation 5.17. It would result in a 10 point penalty being applied and no world record. Stig won by a big enough margin to still win the race. That protest was won and a penalty was applied. No world record and ten points off the performance.
Stig had the opportunity to protest the result of the protest. That protest was also won reversing the result of the earlier protest on the exact same topic. Stig's World Record back to being valid. Final doping control was completed and the competition is complete.

If you have to ask, go watch the Big Blue again.
