Slovenia: 2007 AIDA World Indoor Freediving Championships

Day 2

Today was the first day of competition. Dynamic heats were run today. Athletes were fighting for eight spots in the A and B finals for tomorrow. Huge number of National Records for many countries fell today. These included Junko Kitahama from Japan with a performance of 150 meters bettering her own National Record for Japan by 15 meters and Wil Winram of Canada beating his own National Record with a performance of 193 meters. Familiar friends of the US doing well.

Results are being posted almost live to the event site. Click http://en.wch2007.h2oteam.com/results2/

As far as the US athletes are concerned, we did very well.

Jessica Wilson made the Women's B Final with a very solid performance of 121 meters. She will compete again tomorrow night.

Deron Verbeck increased his personal best to 150 meters.

Kevin Busscher had a very solid performance of 130 meters.
