US Women Win World Championship Static Event. Two New US Static Records Set.
Sunday, December 10th: Static Apnea Competition.
2 U.S. NATIONAL RECORDS FALL!
New U.S. records for men and women’s static apnea were set today! Deron
Verbeck completed a 7:22 breath hold, beating Bill Graham’s previous record by
one second! Jessica Wilson completed a 6:27 breath hold, blowing her mom
Annabel’s record by six seconds! All U.S. athletes received white cards for
their performances:
- Annabel Briseno – 6:14
- Rob King – 5:36
- Juliana Howe – 5:07
- Craig Gentry – 5:00
In the static competition, the U.S. women’s team placed 1st, while the men’s
team placed 8th. For the competition to date (constant ballast and static),
the women’s team is placing 5th in the overall standings while the men’s team
is placing 10th.
Congratulations to Jessica and Deron, and to all of the athletes!
This is the second straight Team Championship the US Women have won the static event.
